We have been offered spots at both MCCA Garret Park and MCCA Park Street (also on the waitlist at Kensington Forest Glen), but I can't find very recent reviews on MCCA Garrett Park. Can anyone provide reviews on any of those two locations (we've found lots of good ones for KFG)? We have a 2 and 4 year old who would be enrolled. |
I would honestly go with the one that works better for you. I have also heard great things about Park Street, both on DCUM and from friends, but both facilities seem to have solid licensing inspection history (https://www.checkccmd.org/) and have a 5 in the EXCELS system.
We never got a slot at Park Street, but we ended up at a another daycare (not MCCA) that had no online reviews and nobody we know had used it, but we got a good feeling during our tour (and did due diligence checking licensing inspections). It's been fantastic. |
Also remember most people like their daycares until an issue comes up. I take online and friend reviews with a grain of salt. What I most care about are turnover and ratios. |
And that most reviews were probably pre-Covid. |
Is this for the fall? We are at KFG and I guess I'm a bit surprised you haven't been offered spots there too- every newsletter there's a request to spread the word and recommend the center so they can rebuild enrollment. I was under the impression they were still under capacity and then you have all the rising kindergarteners moving up at the end of the summer. |
My kiddo was at park street from 2016 til March 2020, so I can’t speak to covid conditions. But we had a great experience at each point (infant, toddler, preschool) and would consider going back for camp some time. There was some turnover but also a bunch of teachers who’d been there for years. I know 3 parents who have sent their kids this year and been happy with covid Pres cautions. Happy to answer more specific questions if you have them. |
Yes for the fall, and KFG has told me they're extending offers to waitlisted families soon - they're waiting to hear which families are staying and which are not. |
