Waterfall countertops

What are your thoughts on these?

We are looking at a pretty plain white quartz so no major veining, etc.

The appeal to me is having wipeable sides. I feel like i am always wiping off cabinet fronts with 2 dogs and 3 kids.

I think they look amazing.

I love them! Would totally get.

I don't think that's enough of a reason to get them because they are wipeable. Cabinet drawer fronts are wipeable. Get them because you like the look of them. They definitely bring a contemporary vibe that will work well with many kitchens. I like having outlets on my island so I'd make sure countertops/waterfall edge didn't compromise the ability to install outlets.

They always remind me of flipped houses. I don’t like them. But I can see they might be convenient!

love but so expensive have you looked at cost

I love them, but I think they are definitely a trend that will end up looking dated. I don't care and still put them in, but I think they will very much mark my kitchen as 2020

I think they're ugly and dated.

Quartz is also ugly and dated, so.

I’d love to know the materials you’d put in your kitchen.

I really don't like them. Sorry. My cabinet sides are super wipeable, so I don't see why waterfall would be easier

I LOVE them. Just make sure you can still have outlets on the island, because it is required by code in many places.

We're currently in the middle of a new build. Our kitchen designer really wanted us to do waterfalls. While I get and appreciate the contemporary aspect of the look (overall, our house is quite contemporary), I was concerned that the waterfalls would soon (if not already) feel a bit dated. Put differently, the question we posed is whether this trend is a fad or a long-term shift in aesthetic. My slight guess is on fad, which is why we opted away from them. That said, we could well be wrong. In all, they do look pretty, so I don't think there is a wrong answer here.

If you love the look, go for it, as you can always change the island later.

I think they are getting dated. I would pass.

I just don’t like the look of them myself, so I wouldn’t use them. But lots of other people like them so do what will make you happy when you’re in your kitchen.
