Weekend Babysitter Rate

We are getting a sitter from 1 pm on a Friday to after bedtime for the kids on Sunday. Kids are usually awake 7 am to 7 pm.
How much would you pay?
Sitter says she is fine with “whatever” and is a close friend of the family (actually an employee of one of the parents at their business for her day job).

Depends on how many kids, ages, what the demands are, and what area.

Kids are almost 3 and 4. Sitter is able to take them for dinner with her parents, grocery shopping, etc.

At least $350 a day, OP (a day being a 24 hour period). When they sleep is not the issue - when the sitter can leave is when her job is over. You didn’t say when you’re coming home so $700 for the first 48 hours and then from 1pM on Sunday until you get home.

With tip, I’d guess $900 for the weekend at least.

Our nanny is more than a sitter and earns $450 a day for overnights and travel days.

An agency sitter would cost you $500 a day (or part of a day) for two kids so you’d be paying $1500.

When the kids sleep doesn't matter, since she can't leave them. So she has to be compensated for those hours.
2 kids almost 3 and 4 years old - that sounds like a lot of work to me.

Minimum $1k

If you are gone for 56 hrs and you pay $25 per hour that's $1,400 for the weekend.

Don’t be stingy, OP, not with a friend of the family and employee/coworker.

Easily $900 for the weekend. I certainly wouldn’t go lower than that.

Why does when the kids sleep matter? Can she run home and sleep in her own bed? No. If she can’t leave, she’s working. Plus she’s probably going to have a lot of clean up to do with such young kids.

I wouldn’t offer less than $1000 for such a long weekend. That’s a sh*tload of work for her.

Echo the above. When the kids sleep doesn’t matter to a babysitter. $900 to $1000 for the weekend is a bargain.

10 hours for Friday
16 hours Saturday
7 hours Sunday.

At least $20/hour. Sounds like you can get away with not paying the extra $100/per night.

1pm - 10pm hourly rate
10pm - 6am flat rate - $75-100

Saturday:
6am - 10pm hour rate
10pm - 6am flat rate - $75-100

Sunday:
6am - whenever you're home: hourly rate

Plus make sure the fridge is stocked.
If kids do not sleep through the night: hourly rate the entire time.

WHile I think these rates are in the right range, I do not think a family friend is goingg to take that make from you.

She sounds when she sees how she’s it is to watch a 3 and 4 year old for a weekend.
