LCPS and next year

Anonymous
Can someone explain to me what the plan is for next school year. They said "sunsetting" many rules and guidelines-- like masks. Does anyone understand what that actually means? Because yes, the Governor's emergency order ends the day after school ends BUT masks for K-12 still stands. It's like they are picking and choosing what they will follow, or maybe I am misunderstanding, someone help me out.

I am curious about this too. They will probably evaluate vaccination rates and make a closer-to-game-time decision.

I don't think they will (or should) decide until they see how things are right before school starts. It will be interesting to see if the 5+ aged kids have the option for shot 1 before school starts.

I think they should plan for fully in-person maskless instruction starting in the fall. We have about 10 cases a day in Loudoun. It's time to go back to normal.

I see what you are saying but we are down to 10 cases a day thanks to adults getting vaccinated and kids still having to wear masks wherever they go because they can't be vaccinated yet. They seem to ignore the obvious

The only place kids were wearing masks was school. Where all the adults should be vaccinated.

10 cases in the whole county a day means masks should be optional.

Seriously. What are you waiting for, zero?

By the way, it’s more like nine cases a day, now.

You have a dead brain if you want 5 year olds to be vaccinated with an experimental “vaccine”

There's one day of in-person school left.

ETA: I sent too soon! At the school board meeting it was clear that in the fall they are not using the same precautions they did this spring, including universal masking.

True, but that is not what the Gov's order says. It still stands in place for schools.

I wonder if there will be a metric, like with school closing. At one number, no masks, but if community spread hits a certain number, then unvaccinated kids and staff have to go back to masking. And hopefully we'd just never hit that point.

You’re the dead brain if you think the vaccine is experimental at this stage.

Thanks, but you’re an imbecile who puts the word vaccine in quotes, so your opinion is irrelevant.
