| I want to have someone go up and clean any bugs or animal droppings that may have accumulated over the years. Who in the world would I call to do that? I’m certain a residential house cleaning company wouldn’t be interested. TIA. |
| Handyman or day laborer, I guess? |
| Also if you could possibly wait until fall or winter - it would be brutal to be up there working in this weather. |
| Are there any prevention measures you want to put in place? Our exterminator did a cleanup as part of a vermin prevention service. |
I wouldn’t ask a general handyman to do this. Animal dropping cleanup requires hazmat protection to be safe. |
| We just had ours replaced by PestNow. We had mice and flying squirrels up in the attic. They vacuumed out all the old insulation and put down TAP insulation which is pretreated to repel pests. |
Thanks. Do you mind sharing cost for something like this? Thanks |
| Our attic is about 1,800 square feet and the cost is $5,400 with one year warranty. I didn’t get other quotes since PestNow is our pest company for quarterly service and I just want the animals gone. They will also inspect and seal up any entry points with the insulation replacement. The whole thing took a day. |
Op here. Wow. Thanks. I had no idea it was this expensive. I also have no idea how large my attic is. |
| Flying squirrels? I am afraid to google. |
| According to my pest guy, flying squirrels are quite common here. |
They are. They’re nocturnal so seldom seen. |
NP. That’s a day’s labor for probably one to two people, removal and disposal of the old insulation (if applicable), inspection and filling of crevices and holes, new insulation and installation. I can see the price. |
Flying squirrels are freaking adorable! Flying is a misnomer, they glide. |
And they are very cute!
