Need an Radiology MRI appointment ASAP (Cross posting in two forums)

Anonymous
I had a Pelvic contrast and no-contrast MRI appointment today at Community Radiology. Their machine went down, and they pushed me out by 2 weeks. Washington Radiology does not have anything for two weeks either.

I have to get this done by the 15th, my follow up appointment as I have a tentative surgery date 8 days later. If I lose that date I will not have a Myomectomy surgery date until two months later, and my IVF treatment even further.

Does anyone have any good radiology clinic recommendations that can take me in sooner? Preferably close to Gaithersburg.

I don't know if they have quick availability, but Fairfax Radiology has several locations. They're in Fairfax, not close to Gaithersburg, but drivable.

Also, you could try calling scheduling at any hospital, they all have radiologists.

I would call your doctor and see if they can get you in sooner. Typically if a doctors office calls on behalf of a patient they can push for them to be seen sooner.

Cross-posting is not a good idea. From the DCUM FAQ at https://www.dcurbanmom.com/faq.html:

I have posted my message in the most appropriate forum. However, I'm still concerned that some users won't see it. Should I cross-post my message to other forums as well?

No. Cross-posted messages are likely to be deleted along with any responses to the messages.

Good luck, OP. I'd try to see if your referring physician's office can get you in somewhere. If you have to call yourself, I don't have any leads, but here are some contact numbers:

You might also try different locations with Community Radiology Associates. They have a site at Germantown as well as Rockville, and they have a Women's Imaging site. I'd call ASAP and explain the situation. There might be others trying to rebook at those sites, too, and it is their larger network's responsibility that you are in this position. Ask if you can be put on a waitlist for cancellations, if they cannot book you.

This. Specifically, call your surgeon's office. Your surgeon has hospital privileges (even if your particular procedure will be done at a same-day surgery facility). That hospital where the surgeon has privileges will have a radiology unit.

Ask the MD's office to connect with the Dept. of Radiology in the hospital and ask them to "fit you in as an add on." ASAP. [it should go without saying that need to be flexible here; if they say come Thursday at 10, you be there. You cancel other obligations or take an Uber if DH has the car or whatever)]

If Community Radiology's equipment failure is the cause of this, they will fit you in earlier if you or doctor make an issue of it.
I second the Fairfax Radiology rec, best radiology practice in the area but you have to cross the river...

Try Chesapeake Medical Imaging. Locations are not near Gaithersburgh, but if it's that urgent then you may need to cast a wide net for options.

That’s weird I had an MRI there on 6/9

If you were previously booked for 6/9, and the machine was fixed by the next day, I expect that they only rebooked the appointments that had to be missed while the machine was down.
