Anyone have any insight into when EU travel ban will end?

We are waiting for an au pair from France. Has anyone heard any rumors or intel about when the Schengen area ban will be rescinded?

I don't know but it is annoying! My grandparents in Sweden have been vaccinated and want to come to the US. There is no reason they shouldn't be allowed with proof of vaccination status.

It is super annoying and unnecessary at this point. The virus is here; what are we keeping out exactly?

Maybe I am overly optimistic, but I feel like things are starting to move--4 developments to watch this week. Note that in Europe, "summer travel" generally means July-August.

1. Spain supposedly opened to vax US tourists today. We should see on the news tomorrow (6/8) if it's true.
2. Same for France on Wednesday--watch for news on Thursday.
3. Upcoming UK-US summit--maybe some announcement???
4. EU countries have made announcements about their "green passports"... https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/news/eu-covid-19-passport-to-be-open-for-international-travellers-including-uk-us/

And yes, I agree that at this point it's ridiculous to keep borders closed to vaccinated travelers.

Bumping this to see if anyone has any further insight. I found an au pair I really like from Spain, but am hesitant to match (and pay the fee) if I don't have a sense of when they'll be able to travel. We do not qualify for NIE...
