We're still firmly in the nanny stage of life, but when our kids get a bit older we may consider an au pair. Are there many Israeli au pairs in the DC area? I'm just daydreaming out how great it would be to have someone who would be able to help my kids with their Hebrew school work! |
All you need to do is request one https://www.aupairinamerica.com |
Maybe. The rhythm of Israeli military service --> university is going to mean there are fewer young people in their early 20s looking to spend time in the US.
Not impossible, but relatively unusual. |
It's certainly possible. However, you may want to widen you search net to include Jewish AP from other countries and just ask questions to make sure that they actually know enough Hebrew to do what you want.
I'd also caution that "help" is fine, but many APs basically fall into the camp of "helping" by giving answers. This is fairly common with younger adults who aren't accustomed to leading a child in the right direction so that they can then figure it out. |
Young Israeli women are gorgeous. You sure you want that, OP? |
They aren’t especially common but you can search for one when you do your search. I would agree that their military service might keep many from APing. |
Why would a well educated Israeli woman want to be an indentured servant, which is what an au pair is! Hire a tutor! |
I mean some are. Most not |
The are also very smart and will not put up with any crap from men. She knows how to break a man into a million pieces! |
Both of you are super weird. |
They may be weird but I’m now imagining Gal Gadot nannying so that’s pretty fun. |
Your kids must be quite young. The Hebrew school work that they need help with can't be too advanced |
I am sure your DH would appreciate her as well. |
If your children are learning Modern Israeli Hebrew sure! If your expect her to understand religious Hebrew, such an au pair is likely not religious. She’d be married instead and not working in the US in domestic service. |
Only the non-religious ones. |
