H! I was recently approached by a recruiter from Amazon for Senior BIE role. I have over 15+ years of experience in BI working in SQL, Python, R, Knime and Tableau. I currently make $138K + 20% bonus or $168K a year plus 50 RSU @$55. Or, net at $171K.
The Amazon recruiter offered me $200K for first 2 years ($150Kbase + $50Ksign-on bonus) and 50 RSUs spread over 4 years. For those who are at Amazon. What level is a Senior BIE role, L5 or L6. Is there an opportunity to grow further ? I am a colored, female in mid 40s. At my current job I don’t see prospects to grow. I contribute more towards our household income, so job security is important. Thank you ! |
| Ask for $160K as that is generally the max salary and ask for more RSU's and see what they say. There is no growth at Amazon and you get into the 4 year contract/no increase and at year 5 often the salary goes down because you get less RSU's. Its very hard to move up to a higher level and often it doesn't come with a pay increase. You are best leaving and coming back. The issue now is RSU/Stock costs are really high so you are offered less RSU's than people got in the past. That is a really good signing bonus as most are much less. |
| Oh, one issue to consider with RSU's is you have to pay the taxes on the day they vest so you either have to come up with the cash in full or sell stock. It becomes an issue in year 3/4 when you get the bulk of the RSU's. |
