2 parents WFH, what do you do with kids?

Hi, those of you who both WFH and have children, did you send them to care or did you work out something with your spouse to keep the kids at home. What about summer plans?

We have had a full time nanny since the first was four months old.

Daycare, school, summer camp, grandparents. We tried a summer nanny too.

My 8 year old can self entertain for maybe an hour without needing something, younger kids not at all. You need child care.

We’ve do day camps all summer long.

You didn't consider this prior to having children? You had to know that there would be times when both kids would be home and
need care.

2 kids, now 10 and 13. I went back to work full time when they were 5 and 8.

Until covid, we had a relative who we paid to provide before and after care. My DH also works shifts and could be back up or cover some days. That relative is no longer working for us.

In the summer, before covid, we did swim team, and baseball for the first part of the summer. My relative would cover some and DH and I would have some leave. In August, when both of us were back full time, kids went to various camps. Last summer, DH wasn't working due to covid, and I was WFH so they just stayed home. This summer we're back to swim team, baseball, and have added math tutoring, and will do camps when swim team finishes. Older kid will go to in person camp Younger kid, who isn't vaccinated, will do a 1/2 day outdoor soccer camp, and then go to a Grandparent's house and attend virtual art camp from there while relative WFH.

In the fall, I have taken a new job that's 1/2 in the office, and 1/2 from home with lots of flexibility. So, I'll be home by the time they get home from middle school most days.

How do you know OP even has kids yet? The assumptions in your post don't match the question at all!

It’s almost impossible to actually work with kids at home under a certain age. During the school year, my kids went to day care, and full day camp during the summer.

You are both really dumb and gratuitously mean. Bad combo. Work on yourself.

Send the kids to daycare / preschool / camps / school+ aftercare

We had the kids home with a nanny at the beginning of the pandemic when everything was closed and it was miserable- they are so loud. We sent them back out of the house as soon as we could. We’re both on conference calls most of the day and it just wasn’t possible to work effectively.

Crazy to me that people do it without care...

We have a great nanny who keeps the kids engaged and occupied. None of us would have survived without her!
