| We are looking at cargo e-bikes and wondering if anyone has experience they can share- need to cart 2 to 3 kids (is 3 possible). Have looked at Tern, Yuba, and Rad. Anyone have pluses and minuses while looking they want to share? |

The Rad bikes aren't anywhere as nice as our neighbor's Riese & Müller. But by golly, there are cheap, functional, and easy to use. And the fact they are so cheap means there are just so much more functional. Meaning, we can kinda be a bit sloppy about locking up/parking/dings/etc. We can just leave them lying around, ready for a quick grocery run. But they don't have a front bucket version - we're a one kid family right now, so that isn't an issue. 2 kids + stuff would be a bit of a pain on the rad wagon.
Also, we wouldn't bike without an e-bike (upper NW family with lots of hills). |
| I think one big question is whether to go with an internet only product, where you may have issues getting service (altho rad bikes may be partnering with mobile velo?) or a b&m bike store bike where it’s easy to bring it in for a fix. Or maybe you can find a bike shop that is happy to work in any ebike. |

I love our Tern GSD. Don’t think 3 is possible, except for a short rides with a squeeze. But two is perfect. Smooth motor and the best for shorter riders. I get it tuned up at the REI in NoMA.
The only minus is that it’s more expensive than the RadWagon (that’s the other one everyone in our neighborhood has). The new kickstand is great |
