Barn Door Shower Door

Does anyone have a shower door in the barn door style? Our architect suggested this style, and it fits the space and our needs perfectly. I've never seen this style before though and wondered if anyone had feedback on them. Thanks!

How would the water stay in? I'm envisioning all the drips and condensation that slips down onto the floor.

+1
I don’t see the benefits to this, at all. Sliding doors in showers are the worst.

I would think of an open shower instead. We have a half wall with glass on the top half and I love it. It's not huge but really works well for the space. FWIW, we had to suggest it to our contractors.

Need something at the bottom to contain water that runs down the door. Otherwise, I don't see a problem.

Bathrooms designed to let water run all over the floor outside the shower get really wet and slippery. I've had them in trendy hotels and really don't like them.

Does this get chilly vs. an enclosed space?

Looks fine to me. It sits on a lip, so water doesn’t get out.

We are doing this. It fits better in our space. It’s a big improvement over old sliding doors.

The house we just bought has these (remodeled in 2017). We haven’t moved in yet, but we do want to redo the master bath at some point. It has a bunch of grime in the nooks and crannies of the barn door that they didn’t/couldn’t reach. Not sure how much of that is due to less effective cleaning products, how often they cleaned it, or the barn style doors.

I think that’s just a sliding shower door. The marketing is crazy!

Although a “barn door” shower is perfect to go with “luxury” vinyl planks.

Just kidding this is way better than vinyl flooring. Sliding shower doors are fine. Just call it a sliding shower door.

A sliding shower door requires a frame and a track. It’s different. A barn door shower has a rolling mechanism. It’s frameless.

This is a basic sliding door:

Vinyl flooring and luxury vinyl flooring aren’t the same thing... I’m sure you just hate the word luxury

Wow! Completely different! These two things are totally un alike!!

Boy, that’s some good marketing. If these become popular, they’ll be as stale and sad as barn doors in the rest of a sad suburban shack.

^^ you just choose if you want to clean gunk from a track at the bottom or a track at the top...
