I need some new sources for hip and trendy girls clothes.
I have looked at the catalogues and haven't liked anything this year from Boden, Hanna, Papa D, Tea Collection, Olive Juice, Chasing Fireflies, and a bunch more I cannot remember. Pants can't be denim (making the True Religion's kids section in G'town irrelevant) and shirts can't be tank tops or sleeveless. Yes, I do know I am late on this - it is one of the many things this year I will blame on Snowmageddon. I am hoping someone can suggest something before I pack everybody in the car to go to the Neiman's at Tysons (where everything will be sold out in my two girls' sizes, no doubt). |
| We bought a bunch of stuff from Naartjie at Tysons recently. My DD won't wear jeans and can't wear sleeveless either. They had pink basics, so she was happy. |
| I shop online thru those subscription sample sales and love Splendid girl and Ella Moss Girl for really stylish basics. |
| I wouldn't tout it for the quality, but if you want trendy H&M kids is in Tysons . . . |
| crewcuts!!!! |
| How old are your daughters? |
This is key. For most girls, I'd recommend Naartjie and Zara kids. |

I just stopped by Target/Columbia Heights the other day for some birthday party shopping and was floored by some of the pretty summer dresses for toddler girls.
They had some really nice bold-block flower prints in tangerine, dusty pink, spring green, summer blue... I thought they were quite lovely. Most for less than $15. For nicer pieces I tend to buy from Tea Collection (you already mentioned this). Also recommend the little consignment shop in Kensington... anyone remember what it's called? If you're patient, there's always something there that'll surprise you in a good way. |
| You don't mention what age your girls are but try CREWCUTS, J Crew at Montgomery has it and also at Montgomery Mall is Zara--they have kids stuff and it might work. Full of Beans in DC on Upper Connecticut has nice stuff. |
| OP here. Thanks for the suggestions. My oldest is 7. The younger one has some nice hand me downs that can be filled in around the edges, but the 7 year old needs all new clothes. She has her own sense of style and is always looking for something more hip that not everyone is wearing. Looks like a good weekend for shopping ahead, so I am glad for all the tips. |

OP here. Thank you, DCUM. Zara was a big hit!!! Can't believe I did not know it before know. I belong to Gilt and ordered the little version of Joe's Jeans for weekend, but where did people find Naartjie (sorry if i mis-spelled), ella moss and Little Marc Jacobs? Also, I need a really nice blue, gray or Khaki skrit - not denim, so I am still looking for that for DC#1.
You are mavens - I bow to DCUM. Thank youl |
| Naartjie is in Tysons Corner mall. |
I've also seen it somewhere in Maryland... maybe Montgomery Mall? Or you could just fly to the West Coast... |
