Please Recommend OB in Fairfax

Anonymous
I'm not sure yet if I'm pregnant, but I'm looking for an OB in Fairfax, preferably near Vienna, who has hospital privileges at Fairfax Hospital. I'd prefer a female OB in a smaller or solo practice. My current OB is ok. I'm not fond of the 1.5 hour waits that I've had to endure the past few appointments and she tends not throw out scary concerns but then tells me not to worry.

TIA!

I went to Northern Virginia OB/GYN Associates on Route 50. They have a couple of women, but mostly men. I found them to be pretty good (or at least better than other friends who talk about their OBs). I particularly liked Dr. Silas - he was extremely kind and caring. Dr. Maddox is more old school and very kind. Dr. Dobrynski (sp) - I only saw once and liked her. Dr. Berry is a bit quirky, but my friend who had an emergency in delivery (and whose father is an OB/GYN) said he was great and excellent surgically.

I highly recommend Dr. Terry Allen. She is in a practice with one other doctor (Scott Forrest). They are located on Main Street in Fairfax and deliver at Fairfax Hospital. I really like her and like going to a small practice since you get to know you doc so much better. Here is their website: http://www.drsallenandforrest.com/

I go to Capital Women's Care off of Lee Highway in Fairfax (not far from Vienna) and I really like it. They have several female doctors and I have never waited for an appointment. In fact, they have always got me in early. They take the opportunity to speak with you in their office after your visit to address questions and I never feel rushed. They deliver at Fairfax Inova only. Their number is 703-273-6635 if you're interested.

If you're looking for a female, I have heard many good things about Dr. Kathy Wolf. I don't know any of the contact info although I know she delivers at Fairfax. Several friends have raved about her. You might want to search this board and also the old site b/c there have been many threads about Fairfax-area OB's in the past.

Personally I just started going to Northern VA OB/GYN (Fair Oaks location) and saw Dr. Silas, who was wonderful. I have several other friends who have delivered with this practice and like all the dr's (both male and female).

LOVE Andersen, Maanavi, Muasher, Davis, Yoon. I've seen them all (I've had three pregnancies -- two were miscarriages) and have been very pleased with the care. AND they are listed as Top Docs by Washingtonian! 703-560-1611

I go to Reiter, Hill and Johnson and have since 1996. Dr. Reiter is the chief OB at Sibley. I've gotten great care throughout the years. They have 3 offices; Falls Church, DC and Chevy Chase. Dr. Johnson delivered our DS-she's incredible. I lost all feeling in my hands and feet while I was pregnant and had to see a nuerologist-she also goes to the same practice-I think that says something. I think there are 9 doctors in the practice.

They only deliver at Sibley and Georgetown (only hi-risk).

Dr. Karen Maser has her own practice, well actually she recently brought on a second female doctor. She is on Route 50 and only uses Fairfax Hospital. She's not the most touchy feely doctor, she's very no-nonsense about things, but I liked her. I have had to wait for her - sometimes she has to do emergency C-sections or surgeries come up. Thats life with a solo practictioner OB I think.

Bita Motesharrei, Global Women's Health, in McLean (not strictly Fairfax, but . . .) She's wonderful. Her staff is wonderful. And she took care of me (high risk, "advanced" matermal age, w/ multiple complications) like I was her sister. Can't say enough good things about her!

Dr. kathy Wolf is great. I live in Maryland now but saw Dr. Wolf for GYN stuff when I lived in Fairfax about 6 years ago. She was a nurse prior to going back to medical school to become a doctor. She had excellent bedside manner and is very well respected at Fairfax. Interesting note is that I worked at Fairfax hospital in the NICU and many of the NICU staff as well as many of the Labor and Delivery staff went to her for their care.
