Very few teams and clubs have large movement. When a player or two change because the fit isn’t right, it does not mean there are huge problems. Remember, if 2 leave and 14 stay that’s not bad. Usually the ones that leave don’t play much. Sure makes for good gossip.
Find a team that lost 7 people and I would at there is probably a real issue |
| I meant to add this is in reference to an older boys academy in Virginia |
| Ah, okay. |
Like SYC? |
| Our team just added 3 girls who were the stars of their teams. If 14 stay, that's the group who started together, likely a clique, and the 2 who moved are trying to win. #sorry |
| Seen some movement in local ECNL girls groups at HS ages. 9 left, 9 new at one team and 5 out and at least 3 in at another and 8 in and 5 out at another. Probably all the over rostered subs looking for more PT, and/or grass is greener syndrome. Not sure it will result in much difference for all involved, but shows that kids can move to and from teams even at the older ECNL ages. |
Wow - yes. That’s the team I meant when I posted! |
So your daughter is in a clique with everyone but those three who just joined, and isn’t trying to win? |
Really a bad generalization, my DCs has been on many teams where you couldn’t believe players stayed when it was that bad or others where so many players left for other opportunities and almost all played plenty on the team where players left. Whats good for you may not be good for another. |
| We have four people that are leaving this year, and two of them got plenty of playing time. My son is one of those two. People got fed up with having a coach that screamed at and berated the kids non-stop for two years. They will have a new coach next year, sure, but the club never should have allowed that behavior to occur (or addressed it). |
What age groups? |
I have seen a top team where two players leave. The coach/club were a sh#t show but parents kept their kid on because it was the first team in the “best” league. It blow up the next year mid season. |
| Agree w much of above. DC was on A team but not enough play time, yelling coach, lack of position flexibility. and kid cliques led to dissatisfaction. The lack of position switches led to certain kids thinking they were the only ones who should ever get to shoot, or take corners or penalty shots, etc, even in practice. Not good at young ages. Happy to step back for a more friendly environment for DS. |
Coach probably put the fastest kids as starters didn't he? |
Aww. Poor baby doesn’t want to be screamed at. As long as it’s not personal. Good luck in college. Probably loves the toothbrushes the dentist gives for the no cavity Club. Everyone should get a trophy and be a winner! Lol |
