so--I have medium/dark brown hair. highlighted in my 20s until it got too blonde and went natural (back to my own color) in my 30's--also wanted to avoid any color during pregancies. 2 years ago-after last child was born--went back to blondish/golden highlights since I was bored. I wasn't crazy about it- but at 38 was getting a few greys and the highlights masked it adn it seemed everyone was going lighter as they aged....
my DH confessed he liked my 'dark' look better last night. So--even though it's spring---I took it back to my roots today and I AM LOVING IT!! I have blue eyes and light skin in the winter/but tan easily in the summer. The dark color brings out my eyes again and makes my face less washed-out. i am 40 so thought it would age me-but did the reverse. I look much younger...my hairdresser was going crazy over it..I he gave me a weird look when I told him this morning what I wanted to do but he went nuts when he saw the outcome. I felt like just another one of those 'non-descript' women with blondish mousy highlights...now I feel exotic-ha! |
| I did that too, a few years ago. Love it. I like my hair dark. It looks shiny and it is the best look for me. Too many women get washed out trying to look blonde. Its not for everyone. |
For some reason--it seems I have to re-learn this lesson every 5 or so years ! I should learn to stick with what works best for me.

I am hum hum years old. I have refused to let my hair go natural. I went a head and did so I love it!!!!!! My brown hair is starked with white. I keep my hair short and spiked on top It looks like it bleached very blond.

| I went natural when I got pregnant with my first child and I won't go back. Sometimes I think I should highlight, but then I see pictures of me before and think I looked ridiculous. While I have a few gray streaks, my hair has a lot more luster than it ever did when highlighted. I think it goes perfectly with my skin (as it should!) |
Further to this, I had been overseas when I went natural. When I came back, my beloved hairdresser exclaimed, "Thank god you got that awful blond off your hair." |
