Frat boy Gansler is running for Governor!
Can he beat Franchot? Who’s the favorite Dem? Who will the republicans run? |

Remember when Gansler hosted a keg party for his kid and his friends at beach week and took pics? |
| He’s a likable guy but I would not want him as a governor. |
He's actually not. |
|
Gansler lost the primary to Anthony Brown last time he ran. What makes him think he can win this time?
Poor timing announcing his campaign the week before Beach Week. |
Really? Why not? |
|
O'Malley should come back.
Republicans will run robin ficker ...bleh. |
Or........Maybe part of his strategy? |
On the surface he's likeable but underneath he's aloof not terribly impressive. |
I would vote for him over Franchot. MD politics have a certain reputation for lack of good governance and Franchot seems to be at the center of that. To borrow a phrase from Trump, he’s a big part of “the swamp”. |
Was just going to mention this. Gansler = kegger host for underagers. Duuuuuude! - lifelong Virginian |
Agree with that but he's at least pretty smart. He's definitely a laxbro though. It would have to be a pretty weak field before I'd vote for him. |
Technically speaking, he did not “host” a keg party but instead attending a keg party with minors consuming alcohol while he was serving as state AG. Big difference is that the former is criminal while the latter is unethical and negligent. |
| Any word on his position on police reform? I don't see any mention of that. And since he's a former prosecutor, it would be interesting to see if his views have evolved at all. |
This issue will be big. I predict the Dem who wins the primary will have a progressive stance and the Republican will get the police union support while using squishy language on reform. Note: we have a Republican Governor who easily defeated a Dem candidate the last two times. I’m not so sure MD is as progressive as we think we are. |
