| If so, I could really use some help and also knowing I’m not alone. I was not anticipating this but I’m hoping for things to be better by the weekend. |
| huh? |
| It’s been a difficult transition with DC returning home from college, more challenging than I expected. |
Well, first of all, that's not a "college or university" issue. It a relationship issue. Second, it's only been a week. Third, it's not really your problem; it's your ADULT child's. |
| Are you treating your college student like they're in high school? |
| No, I’m not. |
This is the usual issue. If you are enforcing a curfew, micromanaging, or hovering, it goes bad very fast. Banish any sort of “when you’re under my roof” type nonsense from your vocabulary. Your college kid has been living under crazy pandemic rules away from home for a year, be mindful of that and be patient. |
| OP, if you want actual help, you're going to need to be more specific about what the problem is. |
OP went to outerspace in Elon Musk's space ship as a stowaway. Reentry was not fun. Also hard to pee and poop... |
| Wait...is your son or daughter struggling, or are you? |
+1 and I'm sorry that people are picking on you when you specifically said you would like help and knowing you are not alone. You are not alone. Agree with a PP to please be more specific and maybe we can help. |
| I had problems and used to do a happy dance when she left for college at the end of summer. She boomeranged back during covid and I just quit arguing to survive and it worked. |
| Staying out too late? Won’t look for a job? Or, his/her room a mess? Please help us with an example. |
| It’s a mental health and ADD issue compounded by other factors. Grappling with the mood swings and trying to understand how much is general returning home issues and anxiety or something else. I want to give it a few days to settle down but we’re dealing with manic behavior and I’m concerned. Calling the doctor and former therapist this morning. |
