2 kids - do you regret car with third row?

Anonymous
We did a fair amount of carpooling before the pandemic. Not sure a much about going forward. We live in D.C. and have only one garage spot so this would be our only car.

we are back to carpooling again, and love the extra trunk space for vacations

Why regret it? Great cargo space, and when the relatives come visit, we need that row.

No! We use our 3rd row all the time. Especially now as we're doing long road trips to go on vacation.

And btw, carpooling is back. At the moment we're doing masks on, windows open, but I expect it will be totally normal by fall.

We are in the suburbs but getting rid of our second car and keeping the minivan. We have 2 kids.

I love my minivan. We use it to haul around the dog, other kids, friends, in-laws, furniture, mulch, trees, and on and on and on. I will never not have a minivan type car.

Why do you assume you aren't going to carpool in the future?

If you already have it, no reason to give it up.

For me, I love the minivan even with only two kids - grandparents were just here and it makes everything so much easier.

What about in terms of parking convenience and gas mileage?

My minivan has great gas mileage compared to the SUVs out there. Parking hasn't been an issue since the backup cameras are so helpful. If you live downtown and have alley-only parking etc. maybe a longer car would be annoying? But I haven't had any issues.

MIL goes many places with us, so we often have 5 in the car and our kids are tall.

I only have 1 kid, but between carpooling, bringing a friend on vacations, and 2 dogs that ride in crates, that extra space is a gift. The seat is folded flat as often as not to give hauling capabilities.

No regrets here

No, I love it. I rarely have mine up and use the extra cargo space for folding chairs for sports games, groceries, etc

Regret, no, but it wasn’t really needed. I don’t really carpool anymore, but maybe I will when my kids are older. I have a three row, but have yet to use the third row. I bring a ton of stuff when I go away, and the back is always jammed full.

The minute everyone is out of carseats and booster...carpool city.

No but I regret getting a third row SUV instead of a mini van
