Induction cooktop/range advice ?

Anonymous
We have already decided that for our (new construction) house we want an induction cooktop/burners. We have onlynsteel pots and pans already, so that is not an issue.

Please tell us about your experience with your induction cooktop. What make/model do you have ? What features do you like or dislike ? Which ones are more or less reliable ?

Thanks !

Love our Jenn-Air induction range. Beware that it could take some time to get any induction range right now due to supply chain issues.

I have a Thermador that is wonderful. No complaints.

We have a Bosch and are happy with it. The one thing I dislike is that if the panel on the cooktop gets wet, which will happen if something boils over, the whole cooktop turns off. And it won't turn on again until it's dry.

I wanted a range without dials because it's easier to clean and the look is sleeker. But this is the downside.

Is that an issue with your particular cooktop? Or is that how all induction cooktops work?

GE Profile.

I like it. My house doesn't have gas so it's the only option.

Turns off by itself when there is no pan. Heats pretty damn fast. The range of heat available is pretty good.

You can sometimes get a little buzzing. Move the pan around etc.

+100

Thermador Freedom Induction is the best on the market by a long shot.

Mine doesn’t do that and water boils over all the time because ours has a quick boil setting, which is great b/c it boils a pot of water in about 2 minutes, but if you don’t turn it down a little after adding pasta or whatever, it boils over. A lot.

The downside to mine is that you can only use certain size pots on specific burners - there’s one for very large, medium and 2 small and it can be a pain at times. But I don’t think the newer ones have this issue.

When I use my portable induction the heat seems not consistent.
It seems surging heat and followed by lower heat.
Is that how it works?

How quickly does it react to turning down the heat on a pan that’s cooking hotter than you like?

We have a GE Profile. We've only had it a couple months, but I have no complaints.
