What gets me was learning how many abortion patients say the major reason they need an abortion is because they can’t afford to raise a child. (75% of abortion patients are low-income, the majority already have at least one child.) Supporting those mothers so they can have the baby should be a no-brainer for people who hate abortion. Real protections against pregnancy discrimination, access to affordable childcare, family leave and sick leave would help these women keep and raise their babies. And legal changes in that direction would be SO EASY because liberals would also be on board with making women’s lives better. AND most (all?) of those policies are viewed favorably by a majority of Americans. No interest. See also: anything that increases access to affordable contraception; anything that offers better protections against rape, stealthing (nonconsensual condom removal), or domestic abuse. |
At least the Onion has some honesty behind the opinion

it's not funny |
Another good idea. I wouldn't send my DD to college in a state that's banned abortion. |
I never said it was. It’s disgusting, but that is who is sitting in the highest court of the land. |
This decision will have repercussions across the world, influencing public opinion and politics in poor countries. We already have a world population and migrant crisis. |
The men who decided it chose the shakiest reason. |
We love TN; we are proud of our state. We will do us; and you can do you! Separate but together |
I would take it a step further and say we start naming, labeling, and shaming forced-birthers and those who belong to groups that espouse any hint of anti-choice beliefs, whether they be colleagues, acquaintances, and yes sadly family members. Get them on record, make them choose sides. Name and shame. Name and shame. |
Bless their hearts! We wish them success and prosperity in their new homes. |
You don’t speak for every woman in your state. No one forced you to have an abortion. |
