| My kid is heavily struggling psychologically and academically and needs a different type of school. She is currently in a "regular" private high school. We have looked at Parkmont School. Any experience with this school worth sharing? I have seen a few things on this forum but they are pretty old. The idea would be that she would finish her high school years there. Thanks! |
| You could also look at Templeton Academy downtown if you can get there. |
| Would post in Special Needs. |
| We considered it, but chose Nora, another small school for kids struggling in mainstream schools, instead. I was really impressed by Ron and how well he understood and cared about his students. I also liked the internship program, but my child wanted a more traditional setting, with clubs, etc, that we thought would be more available at Nora. |
| My DS is graduating HS from Parkmont after transferring there from a popular high school on this forum. It has been a good experience and he got into some really good colleges. If your kid needs a small, non-traditional learning environment, you should check it out. The head of school is an experienced and well respected administrators. They recruit bright, creative teachers who are passionate about their work and the students they teach. It has been transformational for my DS. |
I would continue to post here and in Special Needs because some families who come here may want to know about Parkmont and not go to SN. |
That's good to know, thank you so much for sharing your experience! I was wondering about the quality of the teaching. Sounds reassuring! |
| Does anybody have more recent information about Parkmont? Looking at it for a child with AuADHD. |
