Private Rooms at Inova Fairfax Hospital

How difficult it is to get a private postpartum room at Fairfax Hospital? How much extra is a private room?

We had no problem almost 3 years ago, you never know the availability until you're there. I think back then it was an extra $150 a day? IT WAS WORTH IT. You'll have minimal privacy anyways with the ob docs, pediatricians, nurses, family members, oh yes the baby, etc. Might as well have the remaining quiet time all to yourself!

I think its about $100 more per day. I didn't have a problem getting a private room. My friends who have also delivered at Fairfax all had private rooms. But like the PP said, you just never know if there are going to be a lot of people giving birth the same day.

We had no problem in December 2006. Quite a number of people who go to Fairfax may not be affluent, so there seemed to be plenty of private rooms to go around. None of my other friends who had babies there had problems either.

Yes, it is $100 per day, and it's definitely worth the money. I gave birth in January and stayed in a private room. No problem getting one for me, but I understand they can get pretty busy.

OP here-thanks for all the info. Overall, did you have a good labor and delivery experience at Fairfax? I'm concerned that it might be impersonal since it's such a huge hospital and they do a significant number of deliveries.
