There's always the Physicians and Midwives practice if you don't mind a large practice.

I also recommend Dr Ferrier, she is awesome! always returned my phone calls promptly, knew me personally, great support staff too. I'm just sorry I don't see her as often now, as my baby was born earlier this year.

I do not recommend Dr Ferrier at all. When I became pregnant, I approached Dr Ferrier as I wanted to KNOW who would deliver my baby and not be part of a baby factory. Dr Ferrier and her staff were initially very nice and confident, telling me that she would be the only one. Eight months into my pregnancy Dr Ferrier decided to change her practice[ I was never informed, I fund it on a note taped to the wall of the reception room...classy] and not deliver babies from Friday to Monday, leaving a 40% chance that one of eight on call dr's [who I could not meet] would deliver my first child. When I approached Dr Ferrier to request an exception be made as I was late in my pregnancy, she became arrogant, dismissive and said she "wouldn't throw me out if decided to look at other dr's". well, I did manage, after an incredible amount of stress, to find someone else. Dr Ferrier's office took it very personal and withheld my records until I personally went to the office to demand them. This was a recent change and I already see several other replies from other patients. Dr Ferrier may have been good in the past, but that certainly is NOT the case now. I realize that this is an emoional time for me but isn't it for everyone and dont we all want to know that, if something dramtic happens, then our dr will be our advocate...Dr Ferrier really destroyed that trust that we need, thankfully it happened now and not in the delivery room. I am very happy with my new OB but felt the need to set the record straight on other, more glowing reviews.

I agree with the poster on 6/20. I had a terrible experience with Dr. Ferrier. I think she is very smart and I have confidence in her abilities as a Dr., and I liked the fact that the small practice was very personal. But, she has a very abrasive personality that can make some people uncomfortable. Things were ok for me, not great, through my doctor's visits but I will never forget how she treated me at the hospital when I was in labor. After being in labor for 12 hours, she comes in in the morning to check on me and is extremely rude to me. I asked her what her schedule was for the day and whether she would be around the hospital (knowing she is a sole practitioner, i didn't know if she would have to go back and see patients at the office). She said "you mean am I going to babysit you all day? no." That is not the only rude thing she said during that conversation. I think there was some miscommunication between her and the night nurse and she wanted me to walk during the night so I would probably deliver in the morning. Because I didn't walk at night, I wasn't close to labor by the morning so I think she was annoyed she would have to deal with me for more of the day instead of being done with me in the morning (I think she had a sick child at home that day too). Regardless of what might have annoyed her, I didn't think there was any excuse for being so incredible rude to a person who has been in labor for 12 hours, especially from the doctor who is about to deliver your baby. I feel she has really lost empathy for her patients. Maybe she was better doctor earlier on but I had a terrible experience with her. I delivered in Sept. 07. I would never recommend her.

Wanted to throw in my two cents here too. Dr. Paula McKenzie is awful. I am 35w pregnant and just switched to Physicians and Midwives.

Dr. McKenzie is dismissive of concerns, doesn't explain ANYTHING (just gives lots of one-page info sheets) and literally has her hand on the doorknob to get out of the exam room the SECOND she's done with you. She has never once asked me if I had any questions. I basically had to force her to listen to me. And, if I asked her any questions that she felt it was too early to be discussing, she would brush me off with a "we have plenty of time to discuss that!"

At my last appt on Tuesday (which, literally, was my LAST with her), I wanted to discuss episiotomies. She couldn't be bothered to discuss it---because we have "plenty of time." Hello? I'm 35w pg. There isn't THAT much time!

It's been a combination of issues that have led me to leave her practice. Do yourself a favor and steer clear!

I agree with some of the comments about Dr. McKenzie... but I did most of the research online and asked only minimal questions to her... but I wasn't so concerned... if you want a lot of communication then she is not for you. but she was great in my delivery, she agreed to induce on the date I wanted, and was just very nice in the delivery. I am going back to her for baby #2
