Tolls to become electronic only?

How will they handle out of state travelers?
They are essentially saying if you want to use the toll roads, the government gets to track your travel.

May be the same way Florida does. They have a rate for those with the transponder and a slightly higher rate + admin fee for those without one. Those without a transponder then get an invoice in the mail that can be paid online or with a check.

Most places allow you to pay by going to their site and putting in your license plate information. EZ Pass isn't taken everywhere in the country so if you go out west you'll find you have the same problem.

It is so much better than the old toll booth model. It was the absolute worst being on a summer road trip and sitting in a 15 minute backup of hundreds of cars going 2 MPH while everyone hands the attendant a $20 and gets a mountain of change in return.

This. And FWIW this is how some other countries do it. Much better than waiting in lines. If you are worried about being 'tracked', many new cars have GPS, cell phones can be tracked... so there's that to consider.
