New Handbag Advice

I am ready to give my Kate Spade Leather Quinn a rest for awhile, but I love the size, ease of use (can see in easily) and am thinking of getting one in another color, perhaps material. I am not the type of person to change handbags each day-want something I can use daily.

For those with some fashion sense, thoughts on croc-embossed leather, patent? Cream? I need to branch out from basic black.
