Infertility Support and Discussion
|
I'm about to start my first cycle of IVF (I'm 33 w/ MF as our "issue.") My RE at SG prescribed me 75 iu of Luveris to go along with my 150iu of Gonal F. It seems like from what I've read that most women are usually prescribed Menopur instead of Luveris.
Can anyone tell me the difference between Luveris and Menopur? Is one better than the other? (I've tried to research this on my own but am still a little confused) Has anyone had better success with Luveris vs Menopur or vice versa? Thanks so much for your help! |

I was switched from Menopur to Luveris when I joined SG's shared risk with meds program (they have a deal with the company that makes Luveris). My DH freaked when they switched my meds and called by RE to discuss. Basically what the RE said is that Menopur is a mix of LH and FSH and Luveris is pure LH -- so when you're on Luveris you also take more Gonal-F/Follistim so that you get the same total dose of FSH.
I love to bake so the way I thought of is menopur is like usingh brown sugar and Luveris is like using white sugar - so when you use white sugar you have to add more molasses to the recipe to get the same cookie. Hope that makes sense -- good luck!!!! |

OP here...thanks so much poster 11:29! Your baking analogy makes total sense! I too am doing SG's shared risk with meds program so I guess you are right that the company has a deal with SG.
Did you have a good response with Luveris over Menopur? |
| 11:29 here -- I had pretty much the same (kinda poor) response with both. Hopefully you'll have better luck! |
