| wine seems to disagree with me. i don't feel all warm and loose and good--i feel nauseous and end up in the bathroom. but i don't know anything about wine and maybe i am drinking crap wine. can anyone recommend a bottle that might work out better for me? |

Do you feel nauseated as soon as you drink it? Or the day after? How often and how much do you drink?
Reds usually make me feel worse the next day. But all wine messes with my head now, because I drink so infrequently (like every 6 months). When I used to have a glass or two on a Friday night, it was much easier to do because my body seemed used to it. |

| Try a wine without sulfites. That might be the culprit. Also, if you do white, try a non-oaky varietal, like a crisp sauvignon blanc. |

| Red wines with tannins also can disagree with sone people. Maybe try white wines as a prior PP suggested. |
| op here. and i am R. i would like to enjoy a glass maybe once or twice a week, nothing more. i guess maybe i will try white as i usually do red. thanks for the info. |
| don't drink the whole bottle. |

Agree that it might be the sulphites or tannins in reds. Cheaper wine can also cause this problem. I would try some unoaked whites in the over $15 category or New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.
Also, some red varietals may be easier on you than others--some reds do have more alcohol per volume--lots of the "bigger" more robust reds do--those make me, a seasoned wino, have a headache. You might go to a wine shop and ask for some recommendations. |

all wines have sulfites, although some vintners add more. Have a relative who has had really good luck with Santa Julia, which is an organic wine from Argentina. Unfortunately, we have had a hard time finding it.
A guy at Paul's (on Wisconsin just south of Friendship Heights) recommended an American wine that is very low in sulfites. The vintner's son has allergies and he created this wine for him. I can't remember the name of the wine, of course. Oh, and make sure your wine glass isn't a fishbowl. And drink two extra glasses of water with every glass of wine.
