Republican staffer sues sitting Congressman for exposure to Covid

Anonymous
CO-5 Lamborn, along with other Republican Congresspersons, required his staffers to work in person, to not mask because Covid was a 'hoax', and refused to allow any social distancing.

The suing staff member goes on to say that he tested positive for Covid after he was forced to work in the same office Lamborn was sleeping in after he tested positive himself.

good
I'm not sure the staffer will win, though

I am surprised this isn’t Gohmert - like REALLY surprised.

Lamborn’s son slept in the office’s storage room in the basement for several weeks. Rep Lamborn slept in the office.

I love the GOP. They hate social aid programs, calling them welfare, but meanwhile you've got your son stashed for free in one of the most exclusive addresses in the country against the law.

So which one of the sons was squatting? The doctor, the attorney, the military official, or the actor? I'm curious.

My bet's on the attorney - why else would he be in D.C. But if its the military official oh that's reprimand material.

It doesn't give a timeline but the attorney graduated from Harvard Law in 2016 and Lamborn required his staff to prep him for interviews.

That same son btw signed a amicus brief in support of Justice Kavanaugh during his Senate confirmation hearings.

Then there are the allegations that Lamborn, who first won a U.S. House race in 2006, used his staff for the personal benefit of his wife and one of his sons, the latter of which was reportedly allowed to live for weeks in a storage area of the U.S. Capitol’s basement after relocating to Washington.

That son applied to federal jobs, and Lamborn’s office “required Mr. Pope and another staffer to show (the son) how the USA Jobs site worked and to give him tips on completing applications for federal employment,” the lawsuit alleges. Staffers were also required to prepare Lamborn’s son for job interviews.

This will be an interesting case. Lots of circumstantial evidence, but no one can say for sure if the staffer actually caught COVID from Lamborn.

I don’t want to read the court filing, but does it actually name the son who graduated from Harvard Law as the one his staffers had to teach to use the USA Jobs website? I’d hope that one could manage to navigate it on his own and would be embarrassed to have Daddy’s employees hold his hand.

No, it doesn't name him. Just process of elimination. Each of the sons has a specialized field - medicine, law, military, and actor/Hollywood. If you're going to work in D.C. you can technically be any of the first three but complaint said he recently graduated from law school so that rules out the doctor. Then its between the military and law. Just makes sense with the timeline of graduation, the Congressional staffers experience and ability to cross-examine the son for potential job interviews, and his field - its the Harvard graduate.

So disgusting to make people work in your bedroom, with or without mask.

It really doesn’t matter which one it is, but squatting in the basement of your dad’s office building screams unemployed actor to me, lol.

The filing says its a law school grad who was using the compelled services of the Congressional aides to do speed dating type interviews. Its was the lawyer. Especially considering he stuck around in wrote on behalf of Kavanaugh all the way in 2018.

Is this a thing that they sleep in the office, or was it a special circumstance? It's nasty.
They need to have separate accommodations. If they can't afford it plus their place at home, they can get roommates, like the young staffers do.
