Given: DD currently on ECNL-RL team at Club A, but has been offered a roster spot on GA team at Club B.
Background: The GA team at Club B may be marginally better than our current ECNL-RL team at Club A in a head-to-head matchup, but GA division is perceived to be much better than the ECNL-RL division. Club A league schedule is much more reasonable in terms of travel requirements. Club A is big, heavy on politics and players are constantly looking over shoulder as there is always roster shake-up during tryout season. Club B is much smaller with less turnover on teams from year-to-year, thus less stress on players. Question: Which direction should we go? |
| Really can't answer this if you don't provide the clubs |
Lol. Yes you can. You just want to know the clubs. |
+1. You just want to *trash the clubs. |

I would probably choose club A. Reasonable schedule if you have other children. If they shake up rosters, your dd may move up as she improves. She may get more play/ touches at A during games and can supplement with private training if needed.
Ultimately if she's old enough, lean toward where dd wants to go. |
club A sounds like a college team. If you can thrive in that environment, your ready for the next level as your head is strong. If you cut and run at the first sign of adversity, then college soccer might not be for you. Nothing wrong with that. |
Does she want to play in college? If so, GA will have much better exposure and since play is likely to be at a higher level, she will develop skills faster. Easy decision in this case. |
Club A is VSA and Club B is metro. |
| Club B could also be FCV |

OP, astroturf much?
“ Club B is much smaller with less turnover on teams from year-to-year, thus less stress on players.” I about spit my coffee all over my newspaper. And yeah, I’m not reading a newspaper, just like you’re not a coach. |
If she's going into GA she should be old enough to make a decision, but it's probably based on your influence. I would go with club B. Better exposure and better competition. |
| I think you are making assumptions about Club B that may not be necessarily true. If a team is in GA, I don’t believe for a second that there will be less stress or that turnover won’t happen. You’re just not there yet, so you don’t see it. |
| I recommend team B. It’s typically a little difficult to move from the 2nd team to 1st team at Club A. And based upon what you said, OP, your heart seems to favor team B. |
This. Present the options. And let your kid decide. My kids always make the choice. It's their life. Their decision on what feels right to them. Granted, it's not unlimited choice. We aren't looking at options that would mean a very long commute to weekly practices. |
Which team will have the best coach next year? |
