2yo snores like crazy in car seat

Anonymous
We rarely drive with my 2yo during nap time (since we have barely left the house over the past year) but anytime we do and she falls asleep she snores like a trucker and it seems like she is having trouble breathing. She never sleeps for long because her snoring usually wakes her up within 20 mins. I am pretty sure this does not happen at night or when she naps at home and just when she is upright in a car seat, although I have never stayed in her room all night long (just pop in and out to check) so not 100% sure. When she falls asleep in the car she always has her head tilted back and mouth open which is what causes the snoring, I think.

Does anyone else’s toddler do this? Should we concerned and see an ENT to check her adenoids and tonsils?

Yes. Although it could be positional. Is she FF or RF?

You arent sleeping with her so you dont know if she is snoring. The doctor will ask you if she snores at night and its helpful to know the answer to this. Put a audio only monitor in and observe for naps and nighttime for a week or two. If shes snoring as loud as you say then you should be able to hear it.

Thanks, she is FF. I can keep trying to observe her - naps may be easier than nights but she loves her white noise so it’s harder to hear. I go into her room most nights before I go to bed and don’t hear anything, but it’s just one point in time.
