Did you take birth control before going on stims? My friend didn't and she got at least nine fertilized eggs. Wondering if I should ask my dr. to do the same.
|
Did she have a choice? I just got my suggested protocol from my RE and it starts with BCPs. I didn’t think I had much choice. Which clinic was she at? |
No. If you don’t trust your doctor to deliver the right protocol, then find a new doctor. |
| I was 38 with no BC prior to stimulation. It went well. Ask your clinic the rational behind BC for you in particular. They may have a good reason? If it’s for scheduling then that’s not a great reason! |
| Yes |
| No not before iVF, only before FET. |
Agree with this. Don’t second guess. To answer the question - I did, before IVF and FET. |
| ^ ETA, I got textbook results and am now pg (fingers crossed) |
| No |
| If I don't want it, should I let them know? OP here. My cycles are 35-37 days so maybe that's why they want me on it? |
| Do you have good ovarian reserve? |
| OP here. My doctor said my AMH levels are good. I have a 7 and no PCOs. |
| SGF said it was for scheduling but also to suppress egg production before causing a huge ramp up. I think it's mostly for scheduling so I asked if I could not take them, and they were fine with it. However, most women I know did use birth control before, I just preferred not to, and I talked to other doctors (not fertility specialists though), and they didn't seem to think it was necessary to use birth control. |

I took it before stims/retrieval and again before an FET protocol.
Got eight fertilized eggs from that first cycle and had my DS. At SGF I think it's mostly for scheduling. But they care a LOT about their stats as well. So I don't think they'd do it if it interfered with outcomes. |
