Preschool: City Center - Capitol Hill VS. Apple Tree - Oklahoma Ave

Op—you should post this in DCPS forums. But I was walking once on maternity leave and came across a prek child who had gotten out of center city and was running away from school with no one in pursuit. Me and another man followed the child and he was able to scoop him up at a super busy intersection 3 blocks from the school. We both brought him back and the school was thankful but had no idea he had been missing up until that point. He wasn’t even at recess, we saw him leave from the front doors. I lived 3 blocks from that school and didn’t even put it on my lottery list. This was probably October or maybe early November 2019.
My DS got into AT Oklahoma ave. I know many people who were happy there but it didn’t seem the right fit from my visit there—they seemed very focused on behavior. The pandemic hit and we ended up leaving DC so he wasn’t enrolled. We probably would’ve sent him as it was our only choice we got into (we ranked it last). |
