ACPS and SOLs

Anyone else opting out?

For what grade? In HS it has different implications than in elementary.

Nope. ACPS should have all the data possible to measure the impact of what they did and did not do for students over the last year.

Opting out my 3rd grader with an IEP.

We are leaving the system after this year (going private) and decided to opt out for our elementary schooler. Just not worth the stress for my child. We already know the damage that was done.

+1

It's just not worth the anxiety for my child.

I agree but didn't they get that with the MAP testing (at least for ES)? ACPS needs to be held accountable but I'm not willing to subject my kid to unneeded pressure and anxiety.

What is the effect of optiing out for a middle schooler in Algebra I? I assume none?

I guess it depends on if you want high school credit for that course? Otherwise you could wait until the beginning of next year when they readminister.

+1 Yeah, we're going to strike while the iron is hot. Our DC feels ready and will definitely go in to take the SOL for Algebra I. I think it is in June? And then again in July/August and the Fall. The practice tests at the VDOE website were really helpful in affirming DC's decision.
