anyone order a suit from athleta?

Anyone have experience with them?

I'm a larger 6 (sometimes an 8 in pants), 34C. My tummy could be flatter and certainly tighter. I'm concerned that the suits are for someone younger and svelter.

Opinions?

No, but I just got the catalog and I LOVE some of their suits!

I'm roughly the same size as you (minus the boobs, sadly) and was wondering the same thing. I definitely don't look like those surfer girls in the catalog!

OP here: I thought I'd order one from Athleta and one from Title 9 and see.

I'm nervous about the "meet and greet" tankini length - if I had the models' bellies, I wouldn't bother with a tankini.

I've gotten a ton of stuff from Athleta, including several bathing suits. They run true-to-bathing-suit-size (which I've found to be larger than my size) to a little bit smaller. I love their stuff.

I'm roughly the same as OP and I ordered a 2-piece last year that looked supportive (I mean, the girl in the catalog was surfing!) but I guess I'm too saggy in the chest and it just didn't work for me.

22:09 - not to be too obnoxious, but are you in good shape?

Hi I am size 12-14 and I ordered 3 suits last year from Athleta--tankinis. All were nice. I am large chested 36DD so finding a good support is important and athleta fit the bill. The sizing was odd--I ordered large in 3 different bottoms. 2 fit great and one I had to go up to XL. The tops were spot on, you can order some of the tankinis by bra size. I ordered size 4 (36dd) and it fit great. One suit I wore a ton last summer, and it did pill alot more than I expected. Overall very happy and ready to order a new suit there again this year.

question--aren't they affiliated with gap.com now--could you return it to a gap store if it doesn't fit?

OP, I'm your size and love Athleta suits. I've tried others but like them the best. Well made and comfortable. I have several suits - tankinis and two piece and have always been happy. They sound like they would work for you. They have good coverage but don't look dowdy.

No, you can not return to gap. Unfortunately.

22:09 here - Yes, I'm in good shape, but nobody is seeing my stomach anymore since 3 kids has left me with that wrinkled skin thing that is oh-so-attractive. I won't bore you with a list of my other body flaws So, despite being small and in good shape buying a bathing suit is still a nightmare for me.

thank you for an informative post on the fit! Now I'm going to ask you more question. Hope you don't mind.

How did you find the length of the tops? Did the top touch or overlap with the bottom when you were sitting or standing straight?

Two more questions:
are the tops at all adjustable? I have a small band size, but large cups size.
how clingy is the top below the bust line?

I only buy suits from Athleta anymore. They are different and well made. I will sometimes order two sizes so I can make sure I really get the right fit. It's only a couple of bucks to send the one you don't want back. But they will also reship you a different size for free.

OP here.

Thank you all for your detailed information. I think I will try one.

I realized recently while swimming laps that it has been nine years since I bought a suit (I was thinking about this because the elastic isn't quite what it was...)
