Anyone with experience with Bannockburn or Wood Acres ES?

I must have asked the wrong question because nobody has weighed in with an opinion. We are looking at moving to the Bannockburn or Wood Acres school districts and wanted to learn about what people's experiences have been like with these schools. Well run? Good teachers? Decent class size? Activities? Also, how people have found the neighborhoods -- are they fairly friendly/active communities?-- we're coming from DC (after only being here a year) and have no experience with the 'burbs - DC or otherwise.

My best friend lives in the Wood Acres neighborhood and was very happy with the school for both of his children. Very active parents at that school. He told me one story that shows how active the parents can be. One year the school hired a new teacher and some of the parents did internet research in him, found his Facebook or My Space page that contained a reference to a bong and photos of him at college parties (I think the teacher was a recent graduate). The information made its way to the listserv for the school and the teacher was forced out within weeks. I'll leave it to you to determine if this is good or bad. The neighborhood itself is your typical DC burbs. A good deal of kids, people are well-off, lots of golden retrievers and labs.

Holy cow! That is a sad story. I hope he had other issues as a teacher too.

We live in Bannockburn and have two kids at Bannockburn ES. The neighborhood is wonderful - it is a very active and friendly community. We are also very happy with the school. We have a new principal this year and so far we love him. The class size can get big, but this is an issue at all schools and you can't control it or predict it. We have some fabulous teachers. The parents are very involved, we have a very active PTA which offers lots of after school activities and community events.
