Offers etiquette

Will receive offer based on tryout from new club before old club does theirs.
Can we accept new and just pay deposit then cancel if want to stay with old?
Will need club wait if we ask?
Is it reallyn48 hours and then gone?

I think best thing is to tell old club you have an offer and see if they want to counteroffer or not before accepting the new offer and paying a deposit.

What could they counter offer if you’re on the top team? And even if it’s to move up a team, does it make sense to get there by forcing their hand?

Depends on contract. Our current club days can withdraw by August 1st no penalty. You will lose initial deposit of course. But they required acceptance in late April.

Top team: too many cooks and in the kitchen. Better to lose a few bucks than be in a crowded kitchen.

When DD was younger, she was on the second team and hated it. She tried out elsewhere and got first team offers. We told her current coach we had a first team offer from a neighboring club with a 48 hour deadline and that we loved our current club, but we would take the offer if we didn't have a comparable offer from them before the deadline. He said that had been planning to move her up and sent the offer early, and she's been dong well on the first team for years now.

Not PP, but this is easy. run away from an overcrowded team of too many players, politics, parents and corrupt coaches and admin. Deposit is not worth it.

You do know the limited time offer is bogus, and just a ploy to get you to plunk down your $$? There isn't a club around that if you contacted 3 weeks later and said, "we accept" that wouldn't happily take your money and your child. The clubs are all about making money.
