Teen is happy with her bikini, which is a little “cheeky.” I don’t care at all; I’m glad she’s found something she likes.
She is going to an event for work where she has to wear a bathing suit, and she told me she thinks she’d like a different one for that. She hasn’t done swim team since she was 9, so a team suit isn’t an option. I’m not sure if she wants a two piece with one inch more coverage or something more modest. I know she is socially anxious in general, and she will really want something socially acceptable to other teens. Any ideas of types of suits/store ideas? She wears a size 2 or 4, and is partially developed, but can’t always fill out tops. |
| try target or macys or lands end. maybe a tankini would be good for this. |
| Target has a bunch of cute suits with long sleeves - that might be an option? |
What, no. OP try Nordstrom. Or Target, but not long sleeves that's ridiculous. Unless talking about a rag shirt which can get at Macys or south moon under etc. in cute styles. |
Np. There are cute ones with long sleeves, actually. They are usually cropped. |

Cap sleeve suits or ones with a ruffle neck are very in right now.

? My son wears a Long sleeve rash guard. Why can't a girl? |
| Just buy a speedo or tyr suit |
A swim romper? For a teen? And these people call perfume unfashionable😆 |

I guess depends how much coverage she wants. Bathing suits and work is awful, unless you are a lifeguard or camp counselor.
My teen wears an title Ix bikini that has swim shorts or miniskirt with a cropped halter top. Lots of tummy showing but no cleavage or butt. I think it’s pretty cute. The top is basically this: https://www.titlenine.com/p/high-neck-bikini-top-namaka-savanna/623553.html?utm_campaign=NB_PLA_GoalOPAllSwim_GOOG&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI64O97pqr8AIV7wiICR1gcAB1EAQYBCABEgLkQvD_BwE Athlete has similar tops in solid colors and I think maybe gap too? The halter top style works well for girls that don’t fill out some of the other tops. |
My DD wears long sleeve rash guards at all times, in the pool or ocean. She will burn otherwise. She's a ginger. Sunscreen alone is not going to do it. |
Thank you! OP here. I think some of the Tyr suits look about right. Maybe a black cut-out one piece. She’s very picky, due to anxiety, so hopefully she’ll get on board. Ruffles, flowers, Lands End, and sleeves are all not happening. |
Thank you. She is a non-lifeguard aquatics employee who has to wear a bathing suit for a training. She was caught off-guard, as her uniform will be shorts and an employee t-shirt. I like that top. I’ll try to guide her towards these web sites. Athleta hadn’t occurred to me, but that might be the right blend of young/cool and a little bit modest. |
+1 I would go for a more “athletic” styled suit. See what they have at a place like Dick’s or another sporting goods store. Suit will come across as practical for activity, but not too mature or old-lady style. |
| DD wears athletic looking tankinis. We have purchased at Target and Amazon in the past. I google tankini and have her look at styles online. |
