If you left Catholicism where did you go?

Born and raised Catholic, but am no longer the Church's sheep. I read the PA abuse report, which was absolutely horrifying and the worst thing I've ever read in my life. My uncle was also abused by a priest when he grew up.

Completely done with Catholicism. If you left, where did you go? Sorta feeling the need for some kind of moral direction. Buddhism is appealing (not even joking) to me at the moment.

Cradle Catholic, Catholic education through college, now Episcopalian and happy.

Episcopalian for Christmas and easter because I like the signing and it feels familiar. Otherwise, nothing

Methodist. Congregation has a strong focus on social justice and service. Traditional service feels comfortable to me after my Catholic upbringing although they also offer a "contemporary" service.

+1 I tried to rekindle the magic with my kids, but my then 4 year old son was having none of it. As he's gotten older, he's explained that Christ on the cross is a horrifying sight and it terrorized him at a tender age. He also called bs on many parts of the Bible. I taught my kids about religions of the world and in the US and I taught them that Catholicism is part of our cultural heritage. They know a lot about various religions, but have no interest in attending church. They are good people.

I’ve played around with the idea of a humanist group or universalism, but thus far haven’t found a good fit, post Catholicism.

I’m a far better Presbyterian than Catholic!

Many end up at a UU Congregation.

You mean other than perdition and eternal fire?

I have a hard time imagining ex-Catholics with the UUs. That is one far bridge.

Far far away. Atheist.

Abuse of children, Penn State, Boston, etc.

Who belongs to an organization that condones the abuse of children? Looks the other way over and over again.
