They just announced the ECNL tryout dates only for invited players.
My daughter wasn't invited so far. |
My DD has received and we’ve accepted. We use her mom’s low income tax returns so avoid paying and getting financial scholarship. How much hate will I get for disclosing this from 0-10? |
Are you talking McLean ECNL offers for existing players or invites to come to the May ECNL tryouts? |
Why would they announce a secret invite only try out? Trol |
What an excellent idea. I have emancipated my DD so she can use her own tax return for the same reason. |
Arlington did the same thing-invite only ECNL tryouts. |
It is common thing to do with Developmental Academy and ECNL. They sometimes will have open id sessions very early in the year (Feb). But, the later ones--for most Clubs I've seen, including DC United are by invite only.
|
Plus they were at a secret location. Arlington did hold a dark-web auction for invitations though. |
A lot of times they are full field scrimmages for the older players and you can't have open-ended numbers coming out due to field space and time for assessment. |
OP, was your DD coming from SYC/outside the club or already part of McCleavin ECNL? |
Don't you mean Mcleavin no need for 2 C's |
anyone have Clyde's Venmo address? |
I am OP. My daughter is from outside. |
My guess is that they do these early-season, pre-May 1st tryouts to identify non-ECNL/GA talent. ECNL players can't tryout until May 1st. Once clubs weed through the non-ECNL/GA talent they then have their actual tryouts with current ECNL/GA talent. |
^^^Exactly this-and then if you aren't ID'd at the pre May clinics you don't get invited back to the later sessions with the stronger players. |
