Things you won't wear/buy because they become too popular

Anonymous
Is there anything you had an put away because it got so incredibly popular or something you were thinking about buying, but aren't because you're seeing it everywhere?

I have one thing in mind myself, but thought it might be an interesting conversation!

Nope. I don't buy stuff just because it's trendy, but if I happen to like a trend, I don't care that it's popular. I don't dress to either fit in or to stand out; some years I hate everything that's trendy, and some years I stock up because that trendy color or cut is especially flattering or one of my favorites.

No. I buy things because I like or need them, and they're rarely trendy or have a discernible logo. Don't care what others buy.

Because it's trendy? And not because it's ugly AF?

I'm hesitating on buying those Arizona EVA sandals for the pool because I feel like everyone woman has them I see but that also feels INCREDIBLY stupid to type out so I think I should just get them.

I just am not sure if those or regular slides (soccer slides or whatever you might call them- adidas, nike) are easier to keep on your foot when wet.

Left the nonsense behind years ago.

I think the Golden Goose sneakers are ugly, so I don't know why they're a thing anyway, but... never.

I don't usually worry that something is too popular per se - but I hold onto clothes FOREVER and so I do worry that if something is super trendy now, soon it will be super untrendy and instead of simply being a-fashionable I will become unfashionable.

So, like, I considered getting a moto jacket a couple years ago but it seemed like those were just about to seem outdated.

I was thinking of Birks when I first saw this thread. I wore them all the time in the 90s. I was amused when I saw influencers wearing them a few years ago and bought myself a pair of gold ones when I realized they were making them in fun colors. My husband joked that if the HORDE festival happened again, I'd be ready.

I'm still wearing them, but I do see them everywhere.

No, I buy things and use them because I like them.

I don't pay super close attention to trends and don't buy new clothes often so my fear is that I'll still be happily wearing something that the rest of the world views as completely outdated. I don't want to TRY to be fashionable and then fail spectacularly.
