Playground for babes under 2

Anonymous
Hello,

Sorry if this has been posted somewhere but I couldn't find anything. Are there good playgrounds for kids under 2yo in NW? I took my son to the playground at Marie Reed for the first time this weekend and he enjoyed being there but we were very limited on what he could do.

Would appreciate any suggestions!

Check out Newark street playground in McLean Gardens. It is fenced, there isn’t anything tall, and there is a little area for babies. It’s my favorite for that age.

Kalorama in particular has a sandbox specifically for the young kids.

Trolley Park (at 11th and Monroe, NW) has a 2-5 yo area that's actually good for even 1 year olds. It's small and fenced in. And a few of the toddler push toys have been left there, making it interactive for even little tots. No swings at this park, though. Parking nearby shouldn't be too hard most days.

Kalorama Park and Macomb Park both have toddler areas.

I like to follow @familytripguides on Instagram. She has great playground/outdoor activities for all ages including toddlers.

Do babies under 2 really need a playground?

+1 Trolley Park. I lived over there when my kids were that age.

Of course not, but we do not have a swing or slide at home, and both my kids immensely enjoyed the toddler swings and smaller slides at that age. Try them sometime, you may be surprised what your child would like.

I go to the playground, thank you! Why would you assume I didn't?
