Weird TMI Peloton question, for those who ride...

Anonymous
UM. I feel like I have a weird itch/rash/tenderness in my outer butt crack and crotch. This all began a couple weeks ago. All I can think of is I do Peloton and maybe I sweat down there?? ANyone else? WTF!

I've been cycling since fall 2020. Never got a rash. Butt scratch yes - just adjust your underwear/shorts or wipe more carefully.

But a persistent rash tells me you're not showering frequently enough or your underwear is too tight/not being changed.

I also spend 98% of my daily rides with my butt in the air - so there's that.

Is it me or does Peloton seem to be a bit of a scam? It’s a stationary bike that people pay thousands and thousands of dollars for. Also, the treadmills are a danger to young children.

Yes and the it’s totally cheesy, especially how they market the identities of the instructors. We’re going to look back at “time capsules” from this era and give a little chuckle - kind of like the Jane Fonda workout videos of this time.

Could be a fungal infection. Get a creme for that from drugstore or go to dermatologist.

Personally I think group classes are the scam. You're paying $20/$30 per a class. If you're taking 5 classes a week that's $400 - $600/month. On rides.

I didn't buy a Peloton, I bought a STAGES bike and its the best thing I've ever done for myself. That said if Peloton was my only option (its the same price) and I had to add on the $30/month for the classes, that's still a better deal than spending $7,000+ a year on fitness classes in studios.

And it doesn't matter what kind - I don't care if you're into hot yoga or pilates or zumba or barre or soulcycle or whatever. That's over $5K a year, every year, when you could have bought one Peloton 3 times for a single year's classes.

Stationary bike use has been linked to yeast infections for some people. Make sure you shower right after and watch rubbing while riding

I love my Peloton and one of the best parts is jumping in my own shower after. OP, maybe you have a laundry problem? Give all your workout clothes a long soak in hot water and oxiclean.

Fitness studios have an unlimited option. I don’t think people are paying $600/month

Okay - let's say you're doing the unlimited option. I took a look at Barre.

To give you an idea on price, one class in San Francisco is $30, while a 10-class pack is $240; a month of unlimited classes will cost you $199.

https://barmethod.com/locations/washington-dc/

$200/month is still $2,400 a year. That's the cost of one paid-off Peloton bike.

I was so hot and fit in high school thanks to Jane Fonda. What are you talking about? I'd do them now, if I had a VCR.
