Thank You Teachers!

Thank you teachers for showing up. For teaching. For laughing with kids. For talking with kids. For trying. Its been a very interesting and hard year. I can't imagine any other profession has had as much light shown on it this year as teaching, since now parents and kids are literally in the virtual classroom. But this isn't about comparing to teaching to other professions to say who has had the toughest year. Teaching is hard even in the best of times. We all know that. Teachers, thank you for sticking with it! You are amazing and your example reminds me to keep on keeping on, with a smile to boot!

So happy that concurrent is discarded for next year. Cheating students are in for a treat next year!

This. My kids’ APS teachers (middle and high) have been incredible virtually and now hybrid. My kids love them. Some of them are damn near extraordinary.

Thank you to all the high-school teachers, especially those who teach seniors. I can't imagine how dispiriting it must be to do your thing every day knowing that many students are only half listening and barely engaged (regardless of your skills or the effort you put in). I keep reminding my DC to try to participate more and appreciate the effort involved in teaching faceless students who the teacher may never meet in person. I overhear some of the lessons and I know teachers are really trying.

I’m a high school teacher. My kids are awesome. I know they’re tired and over it but damn, they’re still showing up each day, hanging in there with me. I just know I’d have loved teaching them in a “regular” class and hope I get to loop with some of them next year when they move up a grade. All respect in the world to these kids and everything they’ve been through and put up with.

PP here. That's so nice of you to say! I'm a bit sad that my DD didn't have the opportunity to really connect with her teachers and won't get another chance to do so as she is headed to college. I had several wonderful teachers in HS who made such a big impact on me, primarily in the last two years of HS. It's too bad my DD won't have the same. Thank you for your positive attitude, anyway!

I’m thrilled to finally be able to hold lazy and ignorant and arrogant students accountable and be able to NOT pass them as they cheat their way through the class.
