My company is giving me $500 for my home office buildout for long-term telework.
Help me spend it! Already have: -one monitor -speakers -docking station -laptop -good chair -cheap wireless keyboard -good wireless mouse I definitely need a camera. I have trouble looking into the camera at the top of the laptop so would love a solution that allows me to look eye level. Don’t know if that exists. Thank you! |
| A laptop stand can make the camera eye level. |
| Good camera and stand, background, good microphone with stand, printer, desk |
|
A second monitor is a great investment. The productivity improvements with a second monitor are significant.
As for camera, get something that can go atop a monitor or some other option even like a tripod. Good microphone can also help quite a bit. |

I bought a 34” 4K / UHD monitor from Costco at the outset of the panini. It’s amazing. More real estate than two of the regular monitors I use at the office.
Also ordered the new Anker PowerConf camera recently. Much better picture quality than the built in on my thinkpad, or the external Logitech one I bought. |
| Laptop stand and a ring light if you're going to be on Zoom frequently. |
|
What do you do?
Do you get to keep the stuff that you buy, or does your employer own it? |
| Second what others have already said: Second monitor, laptop stand, and ring lighting (or equivalent). Do you ever use a printer? |
| My LG super wide monitor is amazing. |
|
Standing desk.
Or at the very least an ergonomically chair |

Thanks all.
I can keep everything. I already have a good chair and a printer. I’ll take a look at some of the suggestions above! |
