I am totally dreading these in our yard and trees. Looking to go to the beach Memorial Day weekend and mid June.
Will these cicadas be at all the local beaches ? Rehoboth. Bethany. |
| Cicadas need trees. So I can't imagine there will be any at the beach. |
| Not in the sand but yes all over Delaware. Sorry. |
| If the past was any prediction, yes. They fly everywhere. |
| As PPs have noted, I doubt they've be on the literal beach. But elsewhere in the area, yes. |
|
look at the brood x map. here's one link:
https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/verify/cicadas-2021-map-what-does-the-ground-look-like-when-cicadas-emerge-brood-x-cicadas-dc-timeline-when-will-cicadas-emerge-how-often-do-cicadas-come-out/65-c96ccf95-33be-41bc-8f0e-da18b1cc3dab They do seem to be in DE. But likely not MD eastern shore counties. Most of Ocean City is paved over - if you want ot be safe I'd do Ocean City. |
Rehoboth has densely treed neighborhoods right up against the beach. There probably won’t be a ton given the overall lack of tree density at the beach, but if you’re terrified of cicadas choose your rental carefully. |
The cicadas were everywhere when they came - trying to get into the grocery stores were a nightmare. Concrete was no savior. |
Not true. |
| Would make a great B movie lol |
The cicadas from our yard hate the Delaware beaches. They either spend summer at our family place on Nantucket or travel to Europe. |
| I was living in southern Calvert county the last go round and there were no cicadas at all really. Quite curious about the coming apocalypse..... |
Was this true for all of Calvert? I’m moving to Sunderland in June. |
| Curious if anyone knows if there will be cicadas emerging near Kent Island this year? I have a friend getting married in Stevensville and her wedding is outdoors! |
Omg I would be so upset to have a wedding surrounded by millions of cicadas. Shudders. |
