I'm about to enter my 3rd trimester and I'm shocked at how backordered almost all nursery furniture and baby items are at most major retailers! I thought I was getting a headstart but it looks like I'm already late and almost every furniture item for the nursery (crib, nursing glider, changing table/dresser, etc) won't be available until well after I give birth. Even the boppy pillow cover I wanted is backordered to June

Aw..Are you planning for the baby to sleep in your room for the first few months? If so, then you have time.
I've found furniture to be back-ordered too, but not the baby gear I'm looking at. My first baby slept in our room for 6 months so I plan to do the same this time around. Buy Buy Baby let me set up alerts for when stuff will be in stock, which is helpful. |

We set up our babies nursery before she was born, but she didn’t sleep in it till she was six months old. So you do have time, but I also totally get wanting to have it all taken care of before your baby arrives.
Have you looked at Amazon? They carry all the same brands you can find at target or buy buy baby and they’ll deliver within days. Fact, I just bought her toddler bed last week, same brand as her crib, which we got at an actual baby store a couple years ago. It arrived three days after ordering. |
| Look for used furniture. There are tons of lightly used gliders available. Dressers too. And as others have said, a crib isn't needed for a while of it is backordered. |
| Where are you ordering from? I’m also in my 3rd tri and haven’t experienced this at all. |
Even IKEA seems to be dealing with delays. I'm in a group on another forum and it seems like half of the folks are specifically trying to get the white 8-drawer Hemnes Dresser, which is never in stock. We ordered our crib and stroller both before I had even had my anatomy scan, and both are getting pushed back again and again...it's nuts. |

I didn't have a glider. I nursed my baby while sitting on a leather couch, which by the way was easy to clean after spit ups. For a changing table, I bought a foam changing pad and put it on top of a three drawer dresser, and used the top drawer for diaper storage. |
