POV at the W Hotel

Has anyone been to the POV cocktail lounge at the W Hotel (renovated Hotel Washington)? Will a couple of middle aged moms enjoy it, or will we be out of place among teeny boppers? Are the food, drinks and view worth the price tag?

I used to like going there when it was the Hotel Washington but the reports I've gotten (FWIW) is that the new management sucks a lot of the fun out of it if you're not an ultrahip youngster.

Go and have a backup plan. Personally I hate what they've done to it. But I want to go back and give it another shot.

It is swank, ultrahip - but go early evening, and the views of the lights and DC just cannot be beat - and the ultrahipsters haven't made it in yet, so you won't feel so out of place.

If it is too swanky, head across the street to Old Ebitts, there is usually an older crowd there.

over-rated, but I agree with the poster that says "go early"...it is fun to do once, the views are amazing!

I usually go on weekend afternoons, and the crowd is a little older and its not as crowded. I've never been at night but I"ve heard its a bit of a scene. Lunch / brunch has always been great tho.

The W Hotel has ruined what used to be a DC tradtion - a favorite spot for us to take out of towners or enjoy a nice day. It now reminds me of a scene from South Beach. You have to have reservations, there is a red carpet...no more fun and you certainly can't be spontaneous and go her for a drink on a nice day like you used to be able to.

SOOO prententious. But those views. I go early, during the week. It's mostly 30ish folks. Never been at night.

The staff are so ridiculously uppity, I thought I was on a hidden camera show. Bad attitudes and terrible service.

Agreed with the uppity staff with horrible service. Such a shame, I loved The Hotel Washington bar.....

Tried to go once since the change over, couldn't even get upstairs it was so crowded. From the crowd in the lobby, we weren't interested in waiting for a spot to open up so we left. Maybe well try the afternoon thing like PP suggested.
