420. So when is Maryland going to legalize marijuana?

What has been the hold up? Why did it not come up this legislative session, or the one before that, or the one before that...?

Can someone explain which lobby (pharma, cops?) pushes back on full legalization in Maryland and why a solid blue state can’t get with the times? Which state legislators oppose it?

I don't know but I do know most murders in Montgomery County are linked to illicit marijuana sales. The illegal stuff is more potent and cheaper. I'm not an economist -- how do you end that? Storefront purchases will always be more expensive than illegal sales...

easy to get a medical marijuana card, no?

Oh, I thought it was legal in Md since my neighbor sits on her front porch rolling and then smoking joints. Apparently, she likes the skunky green sh1t.

It should only be legal for adults, not minors. Marijuana has a documented negative impact on developing brains. And brains develop well into the 20s, but adults should be able to make their own decisions on that.

Any legalization would likely have age restrictions like tobacco and alcohol do.

Maryland will legalize it the moment that they believe they are losing tax revenue to VA and NJ and not a moment before.

But it won't be enforced. DC has become a total free-for-all.

Thanks for the brilliant point. Is there anywhere in the US where it's legal for anyone under 21?

Hint: No.

Why do you think it’s ok to discriminate against underage weed users?

You all claim weed is harmless, then turn around and say it’s bad for adolescents because it harms their brains.

Seems a little inconsistent to me.

It's harmless because you cannot overdose on it, but everyone agrees that it makes you stupid. If adults want to be stupid, then fine. But kids brains are not yet fully formed or developed.

Except not everyone does agree on that.

There are people here who SWEAR weed doesn’t make them dumber. (Which is really funny)

I don't see how we as a species can afford for adults to get any stupider. The potheads are in such a haze that they don't even realize how dumb they've gotten. How is that healthy??

This is a time in the world for all of us to sharpen our critical faculties and survival instincts. Not to just let the wave of crisis wash over us without struggle because we're too drugged out to notice or care.

Never, I hope.
