Turning down schools

Anonymous
We were fortunate enough to receive multiple acceptances for DC. What is the best way to turn down schools-- letters or phone calls? I'm guessing email is not appropriate. Also do we have to indicate which school we are going to instead and/or the reasons for turning them down?

I would do a letter. You never know when you might need that school again if things don't work out -or if one of the admins moves to your school. They do like to know where you've gone but you don't have to be specific as to why you turned them down. "Hard choice" and " slightly better fit for our child" are nice phrases to use. Remember to thank them.
